These are named thus not because they catch fire frequently, but because they are far enough south for some of the trees to be deciduous, and thus change colour and fall in autumn. The weather is also pleasantly wetter, and Changewings and Venus Snaptrappers are fond of the area.

An incredibly wide expanse that is just begging to be explored, but Hiccup has decided there's nothing much of interest here (and he may be wrong). Much of this area is flatter and devoid of sharp cliffs or hills. There's beauty in its sometimes-grassy, sometimes-barren desolation -- rocky and thin soiled so vegetation is more sparse.

Many travellers use this shallow sea to navigate by boat or ship, as it is dark and even and spotted with rocky islands that are easy to anchor at (but also easy to crash on if you're not careful). You'll need to cross it if you want to reach any of the territories south of the Barbaric Archipelago.

A small little rock-island close to water level, most of it gets flooded during the wet season. Small dragons like Terrible Terrors and Fireworms love it here as the larger dragons tend to leave it in peace. It's a noisy island but a welcoming playful one - great for a student's first expedition.
